Go! Rhinos: Marwell Wildlife Park

I’m thrilled to announce that I have been chosen as one of the artists to take part in painting a rhino that will be exhibited this summer in Southampton. The sponsor of my rhino is The Ageas Bowl part of Hampshire Cricket Club (hence the cricket theme).

I was asked to resubmit some designs which more prominently displayed the Hampshire logo. Having discussed the project with the organisers whose remit was more in the interest of the public’s (including children) attention and attraction to the rhino, we have compromised on a design that maintains a bright and colourful theme around cricket, whilst including the various elements of the bowl itself and logo. They were attracted to my work as a children’s book illustrator and so will be additionally hoping to allow me to include some wildlife characters in my final design. Time will tell.

Meanwhile, here is the latest design which takes a more decorative, patterned approach to the brief, treating the rhino as a canvas rather than dressing it.

I’ll keep you posted on progress. Meanwhile, if you’re interested in learning more about this project and the other participants please go to: http://www.gorhinos.co.ukGoRhinos redisgn1 speed lines
